The craftsmen at Houses and Barns by John Libby have been building custom barn doors for decades. We never imagined how popular sliding barn doors would become for interior design as well. You see them in almost every home design magazine, all over Pinterest, Houzz, and other online design platforms.

While some of our homes integrate interior barn doors, we are known best for our high quality, custom designed and fabricated exterior barn doors. Classic white and dark green are still the two most popular colors selected by our clients.
Ribbon Sapele is our wood of choice used for barn doors frames due its grain, texture, color, and workability. Exteriors are finished with painted tongue and groove clear pine in coordination with the exterior color palette of the barn. Using clear Epiphanes to finish the Sapele to contrast with the unfinished T&G pine, creates a beautiful interior appearance to the doors.
We carefully select the hardware and sliding track system, depending on the weight and intended use of the doors. Most of our barn designs incorporate a canopy over the sliding barn doors to prevent decay from the elements over time. For a fully weather tight system many of our barn doors incorporate an overhead door as well.
