Lakeside Barn

This lakeside timber frame barn solved the owners requirement for convenient indoor storage of kayaks, boats, lawn tractors and bikes with a finished loft for casual gatherings including games of ping-pong on the family’s handcrafted table. Pine flooring was installed in the loft using hand cut nails and finished with urethane for a clean, rustic feel. Timber framed cross gables provide ample headroom and air ventilation on hot summer days.

Exterior finishes including western red cedar shingles, dark green trim, gable timber accents and wide valleys and door head flashing were driven by design details on the main house.  The remote-controlled overhead door, concealed by traditional sliding barn doors, keeps the barn weather-tight yet traditional in appearance. A set of French doors open onto a covered blue stone patio facing the lake providing yet another beautiful spot to hang out at this busy family’s treasured retreat.
