Cape Cod Timber Frame Barn

When our clients decided to build a timber frame barn on Cape Cod, we were honored to be their first call.  Set among classic and newer shingled seaside cottages, care was taken to design a barn to blend naturally with the surrounding properties.   Grey shingles and dark green trim work together to achieve that goal. The traditional sliding barn door hides the large, weather-tight automatic overhead door.  When open the door rises up behind the transom window.

The owners have found many occasions to spend time in their new timber frame barn.  These include family farm-to-table dinners, woodworking and gardening. The large wrap around loft can be used for quiet get-a-ways and overflow guests. Working with a local solar company, we optimized the barn location to achieve the owner’s goal to generate enough power to support both the home and barn.
