Master builder John A. Libby began his business over four decades ago restoring vintage timber frame barns. As his company expanded, John combined the artisan craftsmanship he learned through barn restoration with modern design and construction technologies. A founding member of the Timber Framers’ Guild, John is one of the most respected custom builders in New England. Each client receives his personal attention, and John is always readily available to address questions and concerns, even long after projects have been completed.
Lee Proscia | Operations Manager
Lee’s extensive experience in the field, at the workbench and in the office, makes him the go-to person for all things construction. His wide-ranging technical building knowledge provides meaningful insight during the design process, pre-construction planning and project management. With excellent communication and a sense of humor, Lee develops strong client and vendor relationships which is reflected in an enjoyable building experience for all.
Peter Anderson, AIA | Lead Architect
Peter believes the practice of architecture is the melding of art and science in the service of community. With degrees in both the fine arts and architecture, he has a foot planted in both worlds. His professional experience encompasses many building types and scales, from state courthouses to remote cabin retreats. He maintains a passion for residential design, a common thread throughout his career, having designed many homes across the state of Maine.
Peter is on the AIA Maine Chapter Board of Directors and has served as visiting critic for design programs at the University of Maine Augusta and the Rhode Island School of Design.
Cindy Drake | Controller
Cindy still appreciates the aroma of fresh cut timbers when arriving for work each day. Her early career in advertising, commercial banking and running her own businesses provided the perfect foundation for managing the company’s accounting system, contract preparation, marketing, human resources and all other general business activities. She is mostly likely the first point of contact when you e-mail, visit or call the company.
Jerry Wasmer| Architectural Designer
Jerry’s life-long interest in drawing, design and building things by hand led him to a career in architecture. He joined us in 2019 after graduating from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. With degrees in both Theology and a Masters in Architecture, he brings a unique perspective and understanding to his work. Jerry enjoys collaborating with others and helping to translate ideas into an inspiring reality. When he’s not working on a project he loves spending time with his family and exploring outdoors.
Jamie Nadeau | Lead Timber Framer
If you ask Jamie what he loves about the company he will answer with an emphatic….”Everything!”. Jamie studied and worked with Peter Truslow for many years, learning the craft of timber-framing from one of the best. With roots in artisan workmanship, a gift for math and over ten years with the company, Jamie seamlessly moved into the position of Lead Timber Framer following Peter’s retirement in 2018. He ensures that the job gets done efficiently and with his trademark smile.
Mike Shipley | Site Supervisor
Mike is a talented project manager, skilled carpenter, timber framer and knows how to keep the momentum going while delivering the quality that clients expect. His ‘can do’ upbeat approach and attention to detail makes him a favorite with clients and co-workers alike. Before grounding his family in Maine he pursued a career as a commercial pilot.
Jeff Morrell | Site Supervisor
Jeff joined us in 2014 with many years of skilled carpentry experience. He has enthusiastically taken opportunities to expand his skills including learning timber framing, managing job sites and working in our finish shop. His positive attitude, skill and work ethic perfectly complement the superb team at Houses and Barns by John Libby. When not at work Jeff embraces all things outdoors.
Christian Madore | Site Supervisor
After working with our company as a trusted subcontractor for many years, Christian officially joined our team in 2019. Positive energy, quality output and attention to detail are the hallmarks of his character. He develops sound relationships with clients and trades people alike, crediting both his degree in Communications and decades of trade experience. He embraces the uniqueness of our projects. “The excellent design team here ensures that every project will have its own unique flavor,” he says. “It’s very satisfying. Not too many people can say that about their work.”
Rob Grygiel | Timber Framer
Rob began working for the company as an apprentice in 2017 after studying timber frame carpentry at Kennebec Valley Community College. While a student at KVCC, Rob gained a solid foundation in the craft of timber framing, learning everything from hand chiseling and joinery techniques to architectural engineering and computer-assisted drafting. Rob is thrilled to now be building beautiful timber frame structures.
Jim Morrell | Carpenter
Seeking more creative projects, Jimmy started working for our company in 2017, bringing 15 years of skilled carpentry experience to the team. He embraces the diversity of our projects and says that for the first time in years he absolutely loves coming to work. The welcoming atmosphere, team camaraderie, and quality projects all contribute to his job satisfaction.
Peter Truslow | Timber Frame Consultant
After 25 years with our company Peter retired to his new farm but is still available to provide timber frame consultation services to our team. With his great respect for the timber frame craft, extensive experience and love for a challenge our team has learned from the best and enjoy working with him on interesting projects.
