English Country Timber Frame

These homeowners started out with a traditional ranch-style home on a beautiful piece of land overlooking Maquoit Bay. We stripped the original structure down to its foundation, and the house was reborn. The finished product is a charming country style cottage reminiscent of what one might find hidden away on a remote British isle. Its whimsical, asymmetrical design, steep pitched roof and plentiful small-paned windows evoke English cottage design.

Fieldstone used throughout the house adds warmth and texture, and collar ties provide interesting visual detail to the bright white walls and wood-sheathed ceilings of the home. In the family room, the floor-to-ceiling fieldstone fireplace, pale walls, and exposed timber frame make an inviting combination. From this room, three-paneled French doors lead to a lovely rock garden and a waterside doorway leads to a private screened porch, the perfect spot to enjoy a Maine cool summer evening.
