Old Fashioned Timber Frame Barn
Footprint: 37' x 47'
When a southern Maine couple requested that we design and build a custom timber frame barn that would complement the 1792 inn they converted into a home, we were very excited about the prospect. The timber frame construction was built just as they would have done more than a century ago, using traditional mortise and tenon joinery.
Its Eastern white pine timbers were hand milled in custom home builder, Houses & Barns by John Libby's, workshop. The finished barn is beautiful, functional and authentic. A granite and grassy ramp leads up to the barn with a transom window-topped barn door. A timberframe barn is a great place for storage . . . and for having a party. Every time we roll the door back, we envision bobbing for apples and barn dancing!
