Historic Timber Frame Renovation
The owner of the historic Josiah Staples Homestead in Central Maine contacted us to assist her with repairing damage from severe winter ice storms. We worked closely with the owner and her insurance company to replace a section of the house where snow and ice had compromised the structural integrity of the home.
We carefully dismantled the damaged antique frame, poured a slab and foundation and constructed a new garage, kitchen and living room. The renovated space combined the old timbers with new for a lovely timber framed roof with conventionally framed walls.
The finished project not only fixed serious structural problems, it beautifully complements the old homestead, and provides a warm and inviting living space for the owner to enjoy for years to come. The owner reports that she has never been so warm and cozy as in her timber frame renovated home.
