New Gloucester Maine Historical Society Barn DoorsSeptember 22, 2009
Preserving history and crafting structures to last… We were able to pair these two passions together for the New Gloucester Historical Society’s new conventionally framed barn in New Gloucester, Maine. Houses and Barns by John Libby recently completed building and installing custom barn doors built with mortise and tenon joinery for the Society’s barn. The barn door frame was constructed with 1 ¾ pine frame with hidden steel reinforcement, then sheathed with tongue and groove rougher-head pine sheathing, screwed and plugged for concealing the counter sunk screws. The unit was then installed on custom antique style track and rollers. The Society celebrated their open house for their new barn on Sunday September 20th. |
